BLAINE, Minn. - Police say one man is dead after crashing an SUV into a home in Blaine early Friday morning.

Police say they received a called around 2:45 a.m. about a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood of Terrace Road and 109th Avenue.

Police saw the vehicle which then took off down Terrace Road.

By the time officers turned around to go find the vehicle the driver had already crashed an SUV into the home on the 10400 block of Terrace Road.

Police are not yet indentifying the the driver, a 31-year-old man, who died at the scene. His family, however, released a statement Friday morning naming the driver of the SUV as Matthew Joseph Gray.

It reads:

We are deeply grateful for the life of our son, husband and father, Matthew Joseph Gray. We are thankful that no one else was injured this morning. We ask for your prayers and request privacy during this time of grief. This will be our only statement.

Two people were home at the time of the accident. They were able to safely escape through the second floor guest room window.

Authorities say the SUV struck the gas main causing a leak that was quickly stopped by the fire department.
