The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have extended catcher Ryan Doumit's contract through the 2014 season, agreeing on a two-year deal.

Doumit will make $3.5 million in each 2013 and 2014.

Doumit, 31, has appeared in 59 games for the Twins this season. He's played at first base, right field, catcher and served as the designated hitter.

Doumit has hit .271 with 12 doubles, seven home runs and 32 RBI.

Prior to this season, Doumit had spent his entire career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Twins originally signed Doumit to a one-year, $3 million contract, this past offseason as a free agent.
