OMAHA, Neb. - University of Minnesota senior Haley Spencer and former Minnesota swimmer Keri Hehn (pictured above) have advanced to the 200-meter breaststroke semifinals at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
The pair lead a group of six current and former Gophers that competed on the fifth day of the event.
Spencer finished sixth overall in the 200-meter breaststroke with a program long course meter record time of 2:27.90.
Hehn clocked a time of 2:29.97 in the preliminaries to finish 13th overall and advance to the semifinals.
Four Gophers competed in the 100-meter freestyle, with junior Erin Caflisch pacing the quartet with a time of 57.24 to finish 78th overall. Fellow junior Tess Behrens finished 85th overall with a time of 57.32, while sophomore Tori Simenec posted a time of 57.65 to place 103rd overall. Sophomore Blake Zeiger rounded out the field of Gophers by finishing 125th overall with a time of 58.42.
