Man dragged 50 feet in Coon Rapids hit and run

COON RAPIDS, Minn. - The Anoka County Sheriff's Office and Coon Rapids Police are investigating a hit and run that sent a man to the hospital.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says police responded to a call in the 11400 block of Xavis Street NW in Coon Rapids at 5:17 a.m. Saturday. A 26-year-old man reported that he was in extreme pain and told officers he was hit by a vehicle. The vehicle and the driver fled the scene.

The man was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with multiple serious injuries but none are life-threatening.

Investigators say the victim was struck on Xavis Street and was dragged by the vehicle for approximately 50 feet. The Sheriff's Office impounded a vehicle that is believed to be involved in the crash.

No one is currently in custody and no criminal charges have been filed. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The crash is currently under investigation.
