Centerville boater's body recovered
CENTERVILLE, Minn. -- Authorities in Anoka County have recovered the body of a missing boater today. The family of 21-year-old Thai Vang was standing vigil by the lake and has been notified.
The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office will be conducting an autopsy.
Police first received the report of a missing boater at around 6:30 a.m. Sunday, and responded to Centerville Lake in the 7200 block of Main Street in Centerville.
Authorities say two men were fishing from a canoe when it capsized in 8-10 feet of water.
"It's muddy and murky out there," said Gary Corr. "We did all we could."
Corr was one of several neighbors who heard screams and tried to help. He was able to bring one of the boaters to safety, but couldn't find Vang.
