ST. PAUL, Minn. - Police say an officer was involved in a shooting while responding to a domestic incident in St. Paul Tuesday morning.

When officers arrived to a home in the 200 block of Aurora Avenue around 4 a.m., they learned a 47-year-old man suspected of being involved in the domestic disturbance had fled the scene.

The suspect was located near the intersection of Galtier Street and Fuller Avenue by an SUV.

After officers issued several verbal warnings to show his hands and get down on the ground, the suspect's actions led to the shooting.  In a news release by St. Paul Police, the officer "feared for his life."

The suspect was taken to Regions Hospital where he is being treated for what police say are non life-threatening injuries.

A seven-year veteran and a five-year veteran were the officers involved in the shooting.  They have been placed on a three-day administrative leave per department policy.
