MINNEAPOLIS - The Fourth of July celebration in Minneapolis begins Tuesday at Father Hennepin Park.

The annual Red, White and Boom kicks off with the Hot Dam 5K at 6:30 PM and is then followed up by a free concert and movie at Nicollet Island Pavilion.

Due to excessive heat, the TC Half Marathon on Wednesday morning has been switched to a 5 mile run. The race will still start at the same place at 6:30 a.m. and event organizers say plenty of water will be on the course.

The fireworks are shot off at Water Power Park and begin at 10 p.m. Event organizers say the best spot to view them is on the Stone Arch Bridge, at Mill Ruins Park, Father Hennepin Park and anywhere on Main Street. To get the best spot, it's recommended that you arrive before 8 p.m.

Free, live music will be played in Mill Ruins Park, Father Hennepin Park and on Main Street leading up to the fireworks on Wednesday.
