RUSH CITY, Minn. - Authorities in Chisago County say a 5-year-old boy has drowned at Round Lake.
Investigators believe that Matthew Siefert of Rush City had gone down to a dock to get a life jacket Tuesday evening when he fell in the water.
Deputies say Matthew's family told him he needed to wear a life jacket to go swimming in the lake. A short time later they couldn't find him.
The report of a missing child came in at about 7:15 p.m. By the time deputies arrived, family and friends had pulled Matthew from the water.
A relative and a friend began performing CPR. Eventually medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
His life jacket was on the dock.
