MINNEAPOLIS - The Minneapolis Police Department is warning public transit customers about a series of thefts on buses since May 31.
Police say five robberies occurred with victims either getting on or off the bus.
Police believe the victims were targeted because they were seen using their electronic devices.
The crimes are random and appear to be crimes of opportunity, police said.
Authorities said riders should be aware of a person who asks for cigarette or change for the bus because they are often looking to catch a person off guard.
They also encourage riders to avoid using cell phones and ear buds and to call police immediately to report any crimes.
