DULUTH, Minn. - A 67-year-old man is dead after swimming in Bray Lake in Itasca County.

According to the sheriff's office, James George Gleason was swimming to a neighbor's raft on Bray Lake, north of Nashwauk, at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday to visit friends.

About 20 yards from the raft the Nashwauk man became motionless and was floating in the water. Witnesses yelled for help and pulled him into a boat. He was taken to shore, where CPR was started.

The Duluth News Tribune reports he was pronounced dead at a Hibbing hospital.
