DETROIT LAKES, Minn. - A Detroit Lakes man suffered serious injuries after a boat he was riding in with his family and a neighbor was struck by another boater late Wednesday on big Cormorant Lake.
The Becker County Sheriff's Office says the incident occurred at at 10:18 p.m. They said the collision left Terry Lee Erickson, 39, with substantial bodily harm. Erickson was later transferred to a Minneapolis-area hospital.
Erickson's 4-year-old daughter also received minor injuries.
The Becker County Sheriff's Office is still searching for the boat in question. It is described as 18 to 20 feet in length, white or cream colored with a cabin style helm and a darker stripe along the side of the boat.
Authorities say the boat should have some damage along the bow or front area of the boat.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information about the case to contact their office at 218-847-2661.
