MINNEAPOLIS -- Vikings running back Adrian Peterson took to Twitter Sunday afternoon, one day after his arrest at a Houston, Texas nightclub.
In two posts on his official Twitter account, the 27-year-old says, "Thank you for waiting for the facts. Truth will surface." He then goes on to quote Winston Churchill: "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
Peterson was arrested at the Bayou Place Nightclub early Saturday morning after allegedly shoving and yelling at an off-duty police officer. Authorities say it took several officers to take Peterson into custody.
Peterson was taken to jail and booked for misdemeanor resisting arrest. His first court appearance is set for July 13th.
On Sunday, TMZ.com posted a 35 second video clip which, they say, shows Peterson being arrested and the nightclub being cleared out. However, it fails to shed light on exactly what led up to the arrest.
The Vikings have had little to say about Peterson's arrest. The team released a statement Saturday which reads, "We are aware of the situation and are gathering more information. At this point we will have no further comment."
