GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - A crash on westbound Interstate 394 involving a mini-bus during Wednesday's morning rush hour has killed at least one person and injured another.
The State Patrol says Charles Miranda, 89 of Minneapolis, was killed when the vehicle he was riding in, a 2000 Chevy Express van, blew a tire, spun out of control and crashed into the median.
The driver of the van, a 55-year-old man from Crystal, was uninjured while another passenger, an 85-year-old woman from Minneapolis, suffered a minor injury.
The State Patrol website previously indicated it was the driver of the van that was killed.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. near Xenia and Park Place. Investigators say it was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
Traffic was diverted to a bypass but traffic out of downtown backed up significantly. Westbound lanes were shut down for several hours but reopened around 10:30 a.m.
