MINNEAPOLIS -- Join
The Bakken Museum during their "10 Best Days of The Bakken" during the 10 days of the Minneapolis Aquatential starting Friday, July 13 through Sunday, July 22.
The 10 Best Days of The Bakken is a free summer celebration that coincides with the Minneapolis Aquatential. All 10 days are differently themed. Some of the themed days include Ben Franklin's Electric Party on July 14, Taste of The Bakken on July 16, Wizards! on July 17, Sunergy on July 22 and many more. Each day of the summer celebration includes themed activities and programming with community partners. Participants can also be a part of the
Green Energy Art Garden, new to The Bakken. Each day, local artists will work with museum visitors to create eco-electric art and music atop the museum's Green Rooftop.
The Bakken Museum was founded in 1975 by Earl E. Bakken, who had invented the first wearable, battery-powered, transistorized cardiac pacemaker. The Bakken Museum is located an intriguing mansion on Lake Calhoun. The museum's purpose is to inspire a passion for science and its potential for social good by helping people explore the history and nature of electricity and magnetism. Some features of The Bakken are The Florence Bakken Medicinal Garden, a world-renowned collection of books and artifacts and multiple galleries focusing on the wonders of electricity.
You do not have to register for this event; just arrive at The Bakken ready for days of science fun. The Bakken Museum can be found on the corner of West Calhoun Parkway and 36th Street on the west shore of Lake Calhoun. Free parking is available in The Bakken Museum lot.
