WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. - While many hope for cooler temperatures, there are other businesses that embrace the heat and even rely on it.

"This is a godsend," said Greg Martz, owner of AM/PM Auto Repair in White Bear Lake. "We have work coming out of our ears."

The recent heat waves come as cool news to those in the auto repair industry. Martz said it was a slow winter with above average temperatures and very few cold-weather related issues.

"We picked up enough work where I'm looking at hiring another technician," says Martz. "This winter, I thought there was no way."

There has also been call after call for air conditioning technicians stepping into hot homes across the Twin Cities.

"We are extremely busy," says Seth Roe with Standard Heating and Cooling. "The previous home I was in was 92 degrees."

Roe says crews are making up to 10 repairs each day and working six days a week.

"This is a foundational summer for us," he says. "Summer's like this can make a company."

There have been 21 days this summer that have hit 90 degrees. The average is 13 days.
