BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. - Police in Brooklyn Park are seeking a suspect or suspects in a rash of burglaries targeting occupied homes on the city's east side.

At least ten burglaries have been reported between June and July 16. In all of these cases the suspect or suspects entered homes during the overnight hours while residents were sleeping.  Those responsible entered the homes through unlocked doors or windows.

During the most recent burglary July 16th, the victim awoke to find the suspect inside of her home and confronted him. The suspect took a number of items and fled the scene on foot.

No arrests have yet been made.

Brooklyn Park police urge residents to stay on guard and follow the following safety guidelines:

  • Lock all doors and windows.
  • If you have an alarm system, remember to use it at all times.
  • Turn on your exterior lights at night.
  • Talk to your neighbors. Watchful empowered neighbors are your best alarms!
  • Brooklyn Park Police offers free home premise surveys. These surveys will guide residents on how to make homes safer. Call us to set up an appointment.
  • If you hear or see anything suspicious, call 911 immediately.

Police will host a neighborhood meeting Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Edinbrook Park (2900 Edinbrook Parkway). They will meet with residents about the recent burglaries and offer prevention tips.
