Hutchinson police searching for bank robber who escaped into cornfield

HUTCHINSON, Minn. - Police are searching for a man who is suspected of robbing a bank in Hutchinson and then escaping into a cornfield. The McLeod County Sheriff's office says a man robbed the Citizens Bank on Highway 15 South in Hutchinson around 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Witnesses say the man got into a red vehicle with a female driver after he robbed the bank.

A McLeod County deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle sped away.

Deputies put down stop sticks and the vehicle came to a stop on Highway 15 near 150th Street in Hutchinson. The man got out of the car and ran into a nearby cornfield and the female driver was arrested.

The McLeod County Sheriff's office and other law enforcement are searching for the male suspect.

He is described as a white male, approximately 6'2" with very short hair, wearing sunglasses, a gray and black shirt and shorts.
