MADISON, Wis. - The owner of a south-central Wisconsin McDonald's has agreed to pay $1 million to nearly a dozen former employees to settle a federal sexual harassment lawsuit.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed the class action lawsuit in Madison in April 2011 against Missoula Mac., Inc., a corporation that owns 25 McDonald's in Wisconsin.

The commission alleged male employees at the corporation's Reedsburg McDonald's sexually harassed women employees by making sexual comments, kissing, touching their private areas and forcing the women to touch their private areas.

The lawsuit alleged the harassment forced one woman to quit and two others were fired after they complained.

U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb approved the settlement on Tuesday.

Missoula Mac's attorney didn't immediately respond to telephone and email messages Wednesday.
