LINO LAKES, Minn. - Authorities reopened northbound I-35W in Lino Lakes Thursday evening following a big crash that shutdown the interstate for hours.

The Minnesota State Patrol says there were serious injuries following the multi vehicle crash that happened around 3:30 p.m. just north of Sunset Avenue.

The State Patrol says three vehicles were involved in the accident. According to a preliminary report, one car hit another car stalled on the right shoulder. The stalled car then struck another car which was heading north on the interstate.

Each vehicle had one occupant.

The severity of the injuries is still unknown. A medical helicopter did land on the interstate shortly after other emergency crews arrived and left the scene.

Traffic was backed up in both directions during the afternoon commute.

All lanes reopened around 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities are not releasing any further information about the accident.
