ROCHESTER, Minn. - A bomb was found in a parked car on the second level of a parking ramp near St. Marys Hospital in Rochester Thursday evening.

The bomb squad was called just after 5 p.m. and the bomb was safely removed from the vehicle.

The incident began at 11:03 a.m. when a pipe bomb was reported to be in a vehicle on the second level of the Generose parking ramp on the St. Marys campus.

Police say a resident of Winona County found the item on their property. They then put it in the trunk of their car and drove to St. Marys to visit a patient.

They informed security about the item and security then relayed the information to law enforcement.

The bomb squad was able to remove the device from a trunk of the vehicle using the jaws of life.

The pipe bomb was 3-feet long and weighed 50 to 60 pounds, officials said.

Nobody was hurt.
