ST. PAUL, Minn. - Motorists be warned.

Six road closures in the Twin Cities over the weekend will force commuters to find alternate routes, three of which are in St. Paul.

In St. Paul, crews will shut down Interstate 94 between Highway 280 and I-35 E to remove the Chatsworth Pedestrian Bridge and construction on the Central Corridor light rail line.

I-35 E in St. Paul will also be closed for light rail construction. The stretch of interstate from the 10th/Wacouta Street exit and the 11th Street exit will be closed starting Friday night at 8 p.m.

Highway 52's northbound lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday for striping. The ramp from northbound Hwy 52 to westbound I-94 will remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday for Central Corridor LRT construction.

In northeast Minneapolis, Central Avenue will be shut down overnight starting Friday at 8 p.m. from Broadway Street NE to Spring Street NE to work on an underground pipe.

In Minnetonka and Plymouth, southbound I-494 will be closed from County Road 6 to I-394 for resurfacing.

In the northern metro, the southbound lanes of I-35W will be closed from Columbus down to Lexington Avenue in Blaine for concrete pavement repair.

All projects are scheduled to be completed before Monday morning's rush hour commute.
