ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. - It was a mix of emotions for moviegoers Friday.
"It's hard when you've been looking forward to this movie for so long," said Jason Divine from St. Louis Park. "This incident makes it much more difficult to enjoy the movie."
"The Dark Knight Rises" has been a highly anticipated movie for months, but with a dozen people killed at the hand of a shooter inside a Colorado theater, it's making people pause before their ticket purchase.
"This movie has a stigma to it now," says Scott Staab from Minneapolis, waiting to see the film at the ICON Theatre in St. Louis Park. "It will be attached to this movie, but we have to do what we can to enjoy the film."
Very few expressed concerns with theater safety and security, but for many the overall movie experience, at least for this weekend, will be affected.
"It's not the same," says Jack Johnson of Eagan. "We're seeing the same movie that so many others did who were shot and killed."
As a precaution, AMC Theatres have decided to ban certain items.
In a statement they said, "We will not allow any guests into our theatres in costumes that make other guests feel uncomfortable and we will not permit face-covering masks or fake weapons inside our buildings."
It's something Jason Divine thinks about before he headed into the theater.
"People were dressing up for this movie and it makes it easy for someone to sneak in and hide things in their clothes."
