MAPLE GROVE, Minn. - Fire officials say a house in Maple Grove caught on fire after it was struck by lightning early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to the house on the 14000 block of 62nd Avenue North around 7:45 a.m. Crews saw flames in the attic upon arrival.
Maple Grove Fire Chief Scott Anderson told KARE 11 crews initially went into the home to try to fight the fire but it got too intense. Firefighters exited the house and flames were through the roof.
The fire caused the roof to collapse.
Nobody was injured in the fire.
Fire officials say this was their second lightning-caused fire of the morning. Maple Grove firefighters had just extinguished another lightning strike fire at a home on the 6300 block of Urbandale Lane North.
Anderson said while it is unusual to have two fires started by lightning strikes, he has seen three house fires started by the same storm.
