MINNEAPOLIS - Some work may not have gotten done in parts of downtown Minneapolis Tuesday morning. A power outage affected many in downtown Minneapolis for the better part of the morning.
Xcel Energy says a cable failure led to a fire in an underground electric valut. Power was lost to about one-third of downtown customers, Xcel Energy said in a statement.
Xcel Energy had told KARE 11 468 customers were without power. Xcel Energy tweeted, "We have abt 6500 out in the Mpls due to impacts of storms. Majority to be restored by noon today."
Power has been restored to the majority of the affected area. Crews are expected to continue making repairs at the vault until early evening.
