Authorities respond to apparent drowning in Corcoran

CORCORAN, Minn. - The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office received a report of a near-drowning in the 23000 block of County Road 10 in Corcoran on Wednesday afternoon.

Two young brothers from St. Paul were visiting a farm in Corcoran with their family. One brother alerted an adult that his brother was in the pond and needed help at about 4:30 p.m.

A man pulled an 11-year-old boy from the pond. The child had been underwater and he was unconscious, authorities said. He was taken to North Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Corcoran Police, Corcoran Fire Department, Hanover Fire Department, Air Care air ambulance and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
