EDINA, Minn. - Motorists in Edina and Bloomington will encounter a lane closure on westbound Interstate 494 between East Bush Lake Road and West Bush Lake Road beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday.
The lane will reopen by 5 p.m. later that day, according to Minnesota Department of Transportation officials.
The closures are needed so crews can work on the median. The work is part of the Highway 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project.
The project includes turning the current expressway into a freeway by rebuilding the interchange with six ramps instead of eight. Officials said that the performance-based design will remove traffic signals, reduce congestion and improve safety.
