COLD SPRING, Minn. - Investigators found 16 of pounds cocaine that could be worth up to $700,000 this morning after receiving a report of a suspicious pallet.
Cold Spring police were called this morning about a pallet with a suspicious substance inside. Members of the Central Minnesota Violent Offenders Task Force were then called to the business, which Lt. Jerry Edblad wouldn't name.
The pallet was cracked and three bags of cocaine were broken, Edblad said. Each board of the pallet had been hollowed out and filled with bags of cocaine. Another board had been placed on top.
Twenty bags were hidden in the pallet, weighing a total of 16 pounds. The cocaine could have a street value of $300,000 to $700,000, Edblad said.
Edblad said it was the biggest seizure of cocaine in the region.
Investigators don't know how long the pallet was at the business. Edblad said he believes it was a "fluke" that the pallet ended up at the business and investigators don't believe there are any more pallets there with cocaine hidden in them.
The Violent Offenders Task Force is made up of officers from the Stearns, Benton, Todd and Morrison county sheriff's offices and Little Falls, Sartell and St. Cloud police departments.
The Cold Spring Police Department assisted with the investigation.
