BLAINE, Minn. - Seven people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Blaine Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened near the intersection of Radisson Road NE and Tournament Players Parkway at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Blaine police chief Chris Olson said witnesses reported a car heading southbound on Radisson Road at a high speed..
Police say the car apparently crossed the median and hit a sport utility vehicle head-on. A second SUV swerved to avoid the crash, but struck the side of the SUV that was hit head-on, police say.
Allina Ambulance spokesperson Tim Burke told KARE 11 two of those seven were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, one went to Unity Hospital and one went to Mercy Hospital.
Sky 11 caught images of a victim being put into a North Memorial medical helicopter at 3:40 p.m.
Burke did not know the status of the other two victims.
Five people were critically injured in the crash.
Each SUV had one adult occupant, Olson said. The car had five passengers.
The accident is under investigation. Officials said it is not known if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
