STILLWATER. Minn. - A high scoring Gopher men's hockey forward was ticketed for urinating in public outside of a Stillwater bar early Sunday morning.
Erik Haula was cited for disorderly conduct after a Stillwater police officer spotted him on the side of the Freight House bar urinating in plain view of the exiting crowd just before 2:30 a.m.
In the police report the officer described Haula as "extremely intoxicated." After explaining the citation to Haula the officer released him to a friend who was somewhat sober.
U of M Director of Athletic Communications Garry Bowman released a written statement reading "Coach (Don) Lucia is aware of the incident. He has spoken to Erik and will handle it as an internal team matter."
Haula is a junior forward from Pori, Finland, who skated at Shattuck-St. Mary's School before joining the Gophers.
