ROBBINSDALE, Minn. -- Two Minnesota teenagers will see their Olympic dreams come true, compliments of the Make-A-Wish organization.
This week, 15-year-old Conor Allen of Alexandria and 17-year-old Emily Wood of Robbinsdale will be taking off for London -- along with their families. The two were chosen to attend Olympic events as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"I've always wanted to go to England," Emily said. "And I've always loved the Olympics. So I think all in all, it's just going to be an extremely memorable trip."
One year ago, Emily was diagnosed with lymphoma. She only recently received clear scans that prove she's in remission.
"It's been a really hard, long year. And to be able to end it on this note, being able to go to the Olympics, is just indescribable," said Emily's mother Michelle.
Conor had several strokes on the right side of his brain when he was born. He has non-verbal learning disability and has undergone seven open heart surgeries.
"This is huge. This has been one of the best experiences that I've seen our family go through," said Amy Allen, Conor's mother.
As for non-Olympic action, both Conor and Emily look forward to checking out London's most notable landmarks.
"I want to see the Big Ben clock because that's the only thing I really recognize over there," Conor said.
