HUDSON, Wis. - Two teens died after an SUV rear ended a semi truck in western Wisconsin Monday afternoon. The accident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Interstate 94 just east of Hudson.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says of the four teens in the Dodge Durango, a 16-year-old boy from New Richmond, Wis., who was sitting in the back seat and not wearing a seat belt, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
The driver, a 17-year-old male from New Richmond, and front seat passenger were both critically injured. The front seat passenger, a 17-year-old male from New Richmond, was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The fourth passenger, a 17-year-old male from New Richmond, received minor injuries.
The names of the four victims were not released.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says the semi was stopped in heavy traffic on I-94 at the time of the crash. The 34-year-old driver of the semi was uninjured.
The accident remains under investigation.
