ST. PAUL, Minn. - An 85-year-old nun died after being hit by a truck in St. Paul Monday morning.
St. Paul police say Sister Mary Beneva Schulte was trying to cross the street, possibly outside of the crosswalk, when she was struck.
The incident occurred near Highland Parkway and Cretin Avenue in St. Paul.
Schulte was taken to Regions Hospital where she died from her injuries.
Police say the truck driver, a 47-year-old St. Paul man, was turning left and tried to avoid hitting Schulte. No citations or charges are expected.
Schulte taught at many Twin Cities area Catholic grade schools and provided home care service to home-bound adults. She retired in 2008 after serving for 65 years .
The accident is still under investigation.
