SHAKOPEE, Minn. - A new program is helping young adults with autism land a job.
Erik's Minnesota Adventures just launched this summer and hires people with autism to be tour guides at different places across the Twin Cities. Canterbury Park and the Walker Art Center are just two of the places where tours are being offered.
The goal is to get the guides interacting with others through what they're passionate about. "Often times they have in-depth knowledge of several topics that are narrow but are near and dear to their hearts. To be able to share that with someone almost every day is pretty incredible," says Erik's Minnesota Adventures Founder and CEO Kathy Nordberg.

The tours are one aspect of "Erik's Ranch and Retreats", which Nordberg developed a few years ago after noticing the limited options for her son who has autism. Nordberg is working to open up a home for people with autism in Edina and Montana. Residents will work at a fully functional ranch that will host guests.
