EAGAN, Minn. -- Heather and Jared Van Ravenhorst sat down on a loveseat in Heather's parent's garage. Jared began to recount the tale that marks the first three months of his young marriage.

"We grabbed our phones thinking somebody had just pulled the fire alarms," he said, recalling the night of July 10, his two month anniversary. "My heart was pounding the whole time," Heather remembered, as the flames climbed up to their Edina apartment. "At that point, it was just... okay, we lost everything," she added.

Well, almost everything. "Without her I don't know where I'd be," Jared said. The couple had found some marital perspective. "He was the only thing I had that night, so we've just relied on each other," Heather would explain.

A few days after the devastating fire a friend talked the pair into signing up for what's loosely known as the "Christian Craigslist." A few days later, Heather's parent's garage was full with furniture and towels and clothes. It seems the Van Ravenhorsts remembered something else they didn't lose in that fire; their faith.

"We've been so, so blessed in this process and it's been rough, but it's good," the bride said. A donation site in their name also still exists.

Heather found her wedding dress, smoky and charred, but still, somehow, wearable. She'll put it on again next week. Her wedding day photographer has offered to take some "Rock the Frock" or "Trash the Dress" pictures for her. It'll be another fun day in the dress that she had previously spent a lot of money on.

For the Van Ravenhorsts, "in good times and in bad", isn't just an expression. "The fire brought us closer, for sure," Jared said. Heather smiled before adding, "We got through losing everything so I think we can get through a lot."
