MINNEAPOLIS - The man who walked into a downtown Minneapolis bank saying he had a bomb was charged with two counts of making terroristic threats and two counts of kidnapping.

Philip James Pariso, 32, was charged Monday. The charges are felonies.

Police say Pariso walked into the M&I Bank on South 6th Street and stated he was armed with a bomb. When officers first arrived, police say Pariso was holding two bank employees hostage and was demanding to speak to news reporters.

The incident caused an evacuation of Gaviidae Common just after noon on Friday.

Police also closed off traffic on Nicollet Mall and in the surrounding area.

Pariso remains in Hennepin County Jail.
