MINNEAPOLIS - Traffic has been slow at the polling places for Minnesota's primary election.
That includes the 8th Congressional District in northeastern Minnesota, where Democrats are picking a candidate to take on first-term Republican Chip Cravaack in one of the state's most closely watched cases.
Duluth City Clerk Jeff Cox describes turnout in his city as "probably one step above light." He says there were no lines to speak of around midday.
The picture is much the same across southern Minnesota's 1st District, where Republicans are choosing a challenger for incumbent Democrat Tim Walz.
Blue Earth County Elections Director Patty O'Connor says the highest turnout she had heard of by around 10 a.m. was a Mankato precinct where about 30 people out of 3,000 eligible voters had voted.
