BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Motorists in the south metro will be redrawing their routes following the closure of three busy ramps along Interstate 494.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is advising drivers that the following ramps will close after morning rush hour Monday and remain closed through late fall 2012, possibly as late as November.
- The ramp from Portland Avenue to westbound I-494. The posted detour will take motorists on westbound E. 77th Street or American Blvd W. to Nicollet Avenue to westbound I-494.
- The ramp from westbound I-494 to Nicollet Avenue. The posted detour steers motorists to exit on Lyndale Avenue and then use eastbound E. 77th Street or American Blvd W. to access Nicollet Avenue.
- The ramp from northbound France Avenue to westbound I-494. The detour takes traffic northbound on France Avenue to westbound Minnesota Drive to westbound 77th Street to southbound Highway 100 to westbound I-494.
Overnight shoulder reconstruction and resurfacing will begin Aug. 20 and continue through the coming weeks. Overnight lane closures will occur throughout the project area during the work.
Mn/DOT warns Bloomington residents that there may be an increase in nighttime noise during the work, and traffic volume may also increase due to motorists seeking alternative routes.
