MINNEAPOLIS - Minneapolis police are looking for the public's help in identifying a witness to a murder on Saturday night in south Minneapolis.

The shooting that was believed to have been near 22nd Street and Portland Avenue, just before 9 p.m. actually occurred in the common hallway of an apartment building in the 2200 block of 5th Avenue South, police say.

Authorities say the victim is a man in his 30s. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died.

Homicide investigators have learned that a woman was seen fleeing the apartment building around the time that the victim was shot.

She is described as black, in her early 20s, with a slender build and shoulder-length dark hair. At the time of the murder she was wearing a pink top, police say.

As of late Saturday night, no arrests had been made and police have not released a motive for the shooting.

Anyone who can identify the woman or provide any other information about this case is asked to call the Tips Line at 612-692-TIPS(8477).
