NORTH ST. PAUL, Minn. - Hundreds of motorists in the east metro are dealing with a major rush hour headache after a jacknifed semi completely closed down Interstate 694 northbound.
It happened around 9:30 a.m. near the exit to 50th street. Traffic was already down to a single lane due to a construction project. Traffic cameras show the truck sticking out of a ditch blocking the only lane of I-694 northbound that was open.
The backup of cars appears to extend for several miles.
MnDOT originally estimated that the impacted stretch would be closed for two hours, but the truck was towed and traffic began moving slowly just after 10 a.m.
