MINNEAPOLIS - A busy part of downtown Minneapolis is closed after a water main broke and will remain closed overnight.
The city of Minneapolis tweeted, "Part of Nicollet Mall is currently closed while city crews investigate a water service line issue at a development near 10th and Nicollet.
"Crews are working with the building manager to fix the issue and some buildings on Nicollet Mall are currently without water service," a second tweet from the city said.
City officials say Nicollet Mall between 10th and 11th streets will remain closed overnight. They say it is a precautionary measure while crews assess the damage caused by the water line break.
City spokesman Matt Lindstrom wrote in a statement the issue is with a water service line at a commercial development.
Water service has not been interrupted to any other properties, Lindstrom said.
