FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - It's called the Great Minnesota Get-together, but this year both sides in the campaign over the constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage are trying to make it the Great Minnesota Conversation.

The campaigns for and against the amendment debuted their Minnesota State Fair booths on its opening day Thursday. With less than three months to election day, it's a chance to reach thousands of undecided voters as well as motivate their allies to get out and vote.

Supporters of the amendment say state law's existing ban on gay marriage should be in the state constitution so it's tougher to overturn. Opponents say loving, committed couples should be able to get married and that civil rights shouldn't be subject to a public vote.
