RICHFIELD, Minn. - The Minnesota State Patrol says a semi driver was hit by a car and killed along the side of a busy road in Richfield. The crash happened around 7 p.m. Friday on southbound Interstate 35W at 66th Street.
The State Patrol identified the semi driver as Hamed Nahi Alsaady of Fridley.
Authorities say Alsaady was on the shoulder of the Interstate looking at a blown tire on his trailer. The State Patrol says a car drifted off the road and hit the semi truck and Alsaady.
Authorities say an investigation is being conducted.
The 21-year-old driver of the car was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
MnDOT says the two lanes on the right were blocked on the highway, causing heavy traffic on southbound I-35W Friday evening. Eventually, the crews cleared the crash and reopened the two lanes.
