DULUTH, Minn. - A Duluth man is accused of using his cane to beat an apartment owner who had let him in to use his bathroom.

Police say the victim allowed the 31-year-old man into his home Sunday evening to use the bathroom. The 49-year-old victim says the man tried to steal several items, and the victim confronted him.

Police say the suspect responded by striking the man repeatedly with his cane. The victim called 911.

The police report says the suspect was belligerent to responding officers and ignored their orders.

Officers used a stun gun to subdue the man and took him into custody. A Duluth News Tribune report says the man was held on tentative charges of theft and second- and fifth-degree assault.
