LAKE ELMO, Minn. - Investigators are looking into an overnight fire at a home in Lake Elmo that the owner believes is a case of arson.
Officers were called to the 5300 block of Lake Elmo Avenue just before 4:15 a.m. on reports of a structure fire. When they arrived they found the homeowner in the late stages of extinguishing the blaze.
The man told authorities that he heard several loud crashes, and that a vehicle sped away from the residence as he was calling 911.
There were people in the home at the time of the fire.
Damage to the structure is described as minor. The Washington County Sheriff's Office and the MN State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating.
