MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Vikings have waived veteran quarterback Sage Rosenfels, meaning they will enter the season with three youngsters at the game's most high-profile position.

The Vikings announced the cuts on Friday night. Letting Rosenfels go was mildly surprising considering starter Christian Ponder is entering his second season, backup Joe Webb is entering his third season but has been bounced back and forth between receiver and quarterback and McLeod Bethel-Thompson played arena football last season.

Rosenfels signed a two-year, $3 million deal in March with the Vikings. Only $500,000 of that is guaranteed.

The Vikings also cut veteran safety Eric Frampton and two veterans they signed in the offseason - cornerback Chris Carr and defensive end Jeff Charleston.

Offensive tackle DeMarcus Love was put on injured reserve.

Other cuts include Emmanuel Arceneaux, Chase Baker, Chris DeGeare, Ryan D'Imperio, Bobby Felder, Trevor Guyton, Lex Hilliard, Tyler Holmes, Reggie Jones, Kevin Murphy, Corey Paredes, Austin Pasztor, Nick Reed, Quentin Saulsberry, Mickey Shuler and Jordan Todman.
