NEAR ALBERT LEA, Minn. - A semi truck driver somehow escaped unhurt after his rig plunged over a guardrail and off a bridge on I-35 near Albert Lea Wednesday.
State Patrol investigators on the scene are trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control before the rig crashed and started on fire.
Inspectors from MnDOT are on the scene assessing damage to the bridge and trying to figure out whether it is safe for traffic. For now, the bridge is expected to be shut down through afternoon rush hour and into early evening.
