ASKOV, Minn. - Four people are dead after a crash involving a crowded pickup truck and a semi in Pine County Tuesday night.

The Pine County sheriff says the pickup carrying five people was making a left turn from Rutabaga Road onto Clark Road near the Town of Askov when the driver pulled out in front of a semi trailer truck.

Three occupants of the pickup, a 17-year-old female, a 21-year-old male, and a 58-year old male were pronounced dead on the scene.

A 20-year-old female was airlifted from the scene and later died at the hospital.

The sole survivor from the pickup is a 20-year-old male, who suffered serious injuries.

Chief Deputy Steven Blackwell says some of the victims are related and some are boyfriends or girlfriends. Blackwell adds that at least three of the victims were in the cab of the pickup and one or two people were in the bed when the driver pulled out in front of the semi.

The driver of the semi, a 50-year-old man, was uninjured.
