EAST BETHEL, Minn. - Anoka County officials say two people were killed in an accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV Sunday night and a woman is in custody.
When officers arrived on the scene just after 7:30 p.m. at County Road 22 (Viking Boulevard) and Rendova Street they found the two occupants of a motorcycle were deceased. Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart says in a news statement the driver of the SUV "had indications of intoxication" and was arrested for criminal vehicular homicide.
Investigators say the scene showed that the motorcycle was braking heavily in its traffic lane before striking the SUV on its driver's side door.
A 48-year-old man from St. Francis and a 46-year-old woman from Big Lake were the occupants of the motorcycle that died on the scene.
A 42-year-old woman from Bethel was the driver of the SUV. She remains in custody but has not been charged.
The accident scene is being reconstructed by the Minnesota State Patrol.
The identities of the victims will be released by the Anoka County Medical Examiner's Office.
