CRYSTAL, Minn. - A 44-year-old Minneapolis man has pleaded guilty to solitication charges after trying to contact members of the Crystal Little League via Facebook this summer, according to the Crystal Police Department.
Marcie, a mother of a little leaguer helped tip off police. Marcie, along with the league's safety officer reached out to police after noticeing the same man, later identified as Michael Hamer, had contacted over a dozen players via Facebook.
Crystal police set up a sting where they pretended to be a 12-year-old baseball player. Hamer engaged in sexually explicit online conversations with the police officer posing as the boy, police said. Eventually, Hamer asked to meet the boy at a park and when he arrived, police arrested him.
Hamer will be sentenced at 9 a.m. on Nov. 16 and is expected to receive five years probation, up to 120 days in the Hennepin County Workhouse, undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation and have no contact with minor children, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.
