AUSTIN, Minn. - Two Austin women are accused of forcing a 9-year-old to hold jugs of milk in the air for hours on end, and of beating the child with a wooden stick.

An Austin Daily Herald report says 28-year-old Shavon Melisa Blake and 48-year-old Jacqueline Glenda Richardson pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges that include malicious punishment of a child.

A police report says the child was made to carry a milk jug around for hours. The child was also allegedly forced to kneel on the floor and keep two milk jugs in the air.

The child told police the child would lose feeling in the arms, and that beatings were preferable.

A message left for Blake on Saturday was not immediately returned. No working listing could be found for Richardson.
